1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SongScribe ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

SongScribe is a mobile and web application that allows musicians to:

  • Write and organize song lyrics with chord annotations
  • Record and manage audio recordings
  • Access songwriting tools including tuner, metronome, and chord builder
  • Create and manage setlists (Pro subscription required)
  • Use performance mode features (Pro subscription required)

3. User Accounts and Data

3.1 Local Data Storage

SongScribe stores your songs, recordings, and settings locally on your device. You are responsible for backing up your data.

3.2 Data Ownership

You retain all rights to the content you create using SongScribe, including lyrics, chord arrangements, and audio recordings.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

4.1 Free Tier

The free tier includes:

  • Up to 10 songs
  • Up to 5 recordings per song
  • Full access to chord editor, tuner, and metronome
  • 7-day Pro trial for new users

4.2 Lifetime Purchase

A one-time purchase that includes:

  • Unlimited songs
  • Unlimited recordings
  • All free tier features
  • No subscription required

4.3 Pro Subscription

Available as monthly or yearly subscription:

  • All Lifetime features
  • Setlist management
  • Performance mode layouts
  • MIDI footswitch support
  • Advanced recording tools
  • OCR import from photos/PDFs

4.4 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in your device's account settings.

4.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds will be provided for partial subscription periods.

4.6 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Any price changes will apply to subsequent billing periods after notice is provided.

5. Permitted Use

You agree to use SongScribe only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the App to infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App to transmit harmful code or malware
  • Circumvent any security features of the App

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 App Ownership

SongScribe, including its design, features, and code, is owned by SongScribe and protected by intellectual property laws.

6.2 User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create using SongScribe. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SongScribe and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of material changes through the App or by other means.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. Apple-Specific Terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and SongScribe, not Apple
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App
  • Apple is not responsible for any product warranties
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims related to the App
  • Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms

By using SongScribe, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
